The City of Somerville and The Welcome Project hosted a rally for Sanctuary Cities and inclusion on the Somerville High School concourse this past Saturday morning, standing in solidarity with and in support of the City of Somerville’s commitment to its residents, and to remaining a Sanctuary City.

The rally  included speeches by Mayor Curtatone, Rep. Capuano, Executive Direcor of The Welcome Project Ben Echevarria, , immigrant youth including refugees who wished to thank the American people for allowing them to come here, immigrant business owners, and local elected officials, as well as live music by The Second Line Brass Band, the Veronica Robles Mariachi Band, and King Bobo’s Haitian Rara Band, and samples of food from around the world (as long as they last) from Somerville Arts Council Nibble entrepreneurs (great blog post on that here: http://www.somervilleartscouncil.org/nibble/tastier-together-nibble-rallies).
