Somerville Remembering Tommy Campo aka “Mr. Somerville Dance Party”

By William Tauro

Our condolences go out to the Campo family for the loss of a Somerville legend, Tommy Campo aka “Mr. Somerville Dance Party”who sadly passed away this past weekend.

Tommy Campo, born in Somerville on Linwood Street and later moved to North End of Boston for a few years then came back to Somerville at his new home located at 7 Auburn Ave.
Tommy attended Somerville Trade High School then later joined the United States Army for 3 years then again later came home to Somerville where he made very many friends when he created and produced the famous and legendary “Somerville Dance Party.”

With many Local Somerville volunteers, Tommy worked with many wonderful teens and still to this day Tommy was still in touch thanks to FaceBook.
Tommy later moved to Orlando Florida where he became a famous Candlemaker of all things.
Tommy was and is still a big part of Somerville. He inspired thousands of local teens with his dance party broadcast back in the day.
Tommy is a big part of the fabric that this fine city is made up of that makes it one of the greatest cities on earth.
We here at the News feel very fortunate that we got to know him and we are proud to call him our friend!

We here at the Somerville News Weekly salute you for everything that you did to make Somerville a better place.
Rest In Peace!
Funeral arrangements to follow…
